Facial Plastic Surgery Definitions:
- Facelift: A Facelift is a procedure to elevate
of the cheeks, jowels and neck counteracting the affects of aging, gravity and the effects
of sun exposure on skin elasticity.
- Browlift: A Browlift is performed to
reshape and elevate the eyebrows with the added benefits of improving the appearance of
the eyes and reducing wrinkles present between the eyebrows and on the forehead.
- Blepharoplasty or
Eyelid Surgery: Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgical procedure that removes fat deposits, excess tissue, or muscle from the eyelids to improve the appearance of the eyes. The primary use of blepharoplasty is for improving the cosmetic appearance of the eyes. In some older persons, however, sagging and excess skin surrounding the eyes can be so extensive that it limits the range of vision. In those cases, blepharoplasty serves a more functional purpose. Approximately 100,000 blepharoplasty procedures are performed each year in the United States. The procedure is more common among women than men.
- Rhinoplasty (nose surgery): Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) means "nose molding" or "nose forming" and is commonly referred to as a Nose Job. It refers to a procedure in plastic surgery in which the structure of the nose is changed. The change can be made by adding or removing bone or cartilage, grafting tissue from another part of the body, or implanting synthetic material to alter the shape of the nose. Rhinoplasty is the most frequently performed cosmetic surgical procedure in the United States.
- Liposuction and fat injection:
Liposuction and Fat Injections are procedures used to add or remove fat from areas of the face and neck to
enhance and sculpt facial features.
- Lip Augmentation: Lip Augmentation is filling of the lines
between nose and mouth (nasolabial lines) with fat are two ancillary procedures that are
very popular and valuable to make one's appearance more youthful.
- Cheek Augmentation & Cheek Implants: Cheek Augmentation is a cosmetic surgical procedure that is intended to pronounce the cheekbones in a person's face. Prominent cheekbones have long been a sign of beauty in both men and women. People who want more prominent cheekbones can have a cheek implant placed to rest on top of their cheekbones. A surgeon will usually make an incision in the upper mouth near the top of the gum line and slide the implants into place. Another method is to make an external incision near the eye, but most patients do not prefer this method since it can create a visible scar. However, the intraoral (inside the mouth) approach carries a higher risk of infection since the mouth contains more bacteria. Cheek implants can be made of different materials and come in many different sizes and shapes depending on what the patient wants.
- Chin Augmentation & Chin Implants: Chin augmentation using surgical implants can alter the underlying structure of the face, providing better balance to the facial features. This operation is often performed at the time of Rhinoplasty to help balance the facial proportions.
Facial Plastic Surgery includes enhancement of many facial features such as the forehead, brows, upper and lower eyelids, nose, cheek, chin and
neck. These are cosmetic plastic surgery procedures undertaken to make your eyes look more well rested and
